Through cooperation with the local building authority and the state monument authority, building rights were obtained for the renovation of the existing building and approval for two new buildings in the courtyard. Completion of the object was in August 2017. The project comprises 485 student apartments and 82 micro-apartments. On the ground floor there is a large lobby with work and leisure areas for residents and a large launderette and gym in the basement. For the urban design, structural elements such as exposed concrete and surface wiring were deliberately incorporated into the design and combined with cozy, individually designed furniture. This concept, with its architectural, high-quality design, won the Iconic Award for "innovative architecture" in 2019.
After the sale of the property, the building will continue to be managed by Cresco Immobilien Verwaltungs GmbH with its Neon Wood and Tannhaus brands.
The Neighbourhood

The Square at the Frankfurter Tor, designed by the architect Hermann Henselmann, marked the transition to the former East with its two towers. The project directly adjoins the historical and listed buildings of Karl Marx Allee. Today, Friedrichshain, with its numerous shops, restaurants and nightlife is one of the most popular residential areas in Berlin.
